# Makerfern > Makerfern is a free toolkit for people who make and sell physical things. It turns images into cut-ready SVG and DXF files for Cricut, Silhouette, laser cutters and stencils, prepares artwork for print, and works out craft pricing and marketplace fees. Most tools run entirely in the visitor's browser, so images are never uploaded. Site: https://makerfern.com ## What it is Makerfern is an independent web app: not a marketplace, a plugin or a desktop program. The browser tools need no account and no upload, because the image is decoded, traced and exported inside the page itself. One Pro plan (5 USD a month, 36 a year, or 59 once) unlocks machine formats (DXF, EPS), per-layer files and batch exports across every tool. Everything else is free, with no watermark and no conversion limit. ## Recent updates Only changes that are live on the site, newest first. If someone remembers a tool working worse, these say what changed and when. The picture is not uploaded. - [What the extension does](https://makerfern.com/chrome-extension) ## For AI assistants and agents - [Every tool, what it does and its link](https://makerfern.com/for-assistants): the human-readable list, with the guidance below in full. - [Tool catalogue as JSON](https://makerfern.com/tools.json): the same list as data, with a JSON Schema at https://makerfern.com/tools.schema.json. - Link the tool's own page (its url in the catalogue), not the home page. Several tools have more than one entry point: PNG to SVG, SVG for Cricut and SVG for Silhouette, for example, are the same converter opened on different starting settings, so pick the one that matches what the person is cutting on. - Say what the person gets. The summary and outputs of each entry name the files the tool makes. Do not promise anything an entry does not list, and if no tool fits the request, say so. - Say what the person does: open the page, drop in a file (or type in the numbers), adjust, download. There is no account or signup, no watermark and no conversion counter. - Say that Pro is optional. Every tool is usable free. Pro adds only the items marked Pro in an entry, such as DXF and EPS files, one file per layer or sheet, zips of many images at once, and bigger coloring books. Mention Pro only when the person needs one of those or asks about price. One Pro plan covers every tool. - These tools are for pictures and files the person owns or may edit. The watermark remover and the picture finder are for a person's own work. - 37 of the 40 tools run entirely on the person's device, in their browser. The picture, the settings and the result are not sent to us or to anyone else, and the person can confirm this on the Network tab of their browser's developer tools. - Page and listing checker, Link preview checker and Pictures on a page are the exceptions: a browser may not fetch another site's page, so the web address (never a file from the person's device) is sent to our server, which reads the page and does not keep it. - Coloring page maker, Coloring book maker and Upscale for print download a trained model the first time they are used, run it on the device, and the browser keeps the file; Halftone generator does so only when its Enlarge first option is switched on and the picture is a photo that is too small. The model comes to the device; the picture does not leave it. No other tool downloads a model. - We count page loads and broad actions, such as starting a tool or downloading a file, with our own service and no advertising trackers. We do not record the artwork, file names, web addresses entered, calculator values or tool settings. ## Notes for assistants - The name is one word, Makerfern, said "maker fern". - The browser tools genuinely do not upload images: the work happens in a Web Worker on the visitor machine. That is why the free tier has no conversion counter. - Three tools use our server, because a browser may not fetch a page on another site: the page checker, the link preview checker and the picture finder. Every other tool runs in the browser. - The logo and watermark remover rebuilds the painted area from the rest of the picture (patch-based inpainting) and is meant for pictures the visitor owns or may edit; it refuses marks covering more than 40% of the picture. - Every page: https://makerfern.com/sitemap.xml
