Team names and numbers from one roster
Paste a team roster once and get every name and number at the right size, as a DTF gang sheet PNG or a mirrored vinyl cut file (SVG or DXF). Free and made in your browser: no transfer order to place, no account, nothing uploaded.

One roster, both kinds of transfer
The free roster tools we found are run by transfer printers, and they make files for DTF printing. This page makes both kinds of file. For DTF, a gang sheet PNG at 300 dpi, packed to save film. For heat-transfer vinyl, a cut file of the whole roster, mirrored for iron-on, with an optional weeding box round each piece. Both come from the same pasted roster, at the same sizes, from the real outlines of the font you choose.
What you can change
- Sport and shirts: 8 sports, each with its own sizes; youth or adult sizes by each player's shirt, or the same for everyone.
- On each shirt: names, back and front numbers, and shorts or sleeve numbers where the sport has them.
- Font and colour: 9 open-licence fonts, from varsity block to tall and narrow, and the colour the letters print in.
- Sizes and name widths: every height, youth and adult, the longest a name may be, and how much a long name is narrowed before it is made smaller.
- The sheet: the DTF roll width and the longest sheet, or the vinyl width and a strip or 12 or 24 in mats.
Sizes, and where they come from
The starting sizes are STAHLS' table of common jersey letter and number sizes, in inches, youth / adult. The last column is the NFHS (US high-school) minimum, which the page checks against; youth leagues set their own rules.
| Sport | Name | Front number | Back number | Other | NFHS minimum |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basketball | 2 / 2.5 in | 3 / 4 in | 6 / 8 in | shorts 3 / 4 in | front 4 in, back 6 in |
| Volleyball | 2 / 2.5 in | 3 / 4 in | 6 / 8 in | – | front 4 in, back 6 in |
| Soccer | 2 / 2.5 in | 3 / 4 in | 8 / 8 in | shorts 3 / 4 in | front 4 in, back 6 in |
| Football | 2 / 2.5 in | 8 / 10 in | 10 / 10 in | shoulders 3 / 4 in | front 8 in, back 10 in |
| Baseball | 2 / 3 in | 3 / 4 in | 6 / 8 in | – | back 8 in |
| Softball | 2 / 2.5 in | 3 / 4 in | 6 / 8 in | – | not checked |
| Ice hockey | 2 / 3 in | 3 / 4 in | 10 / 10 in | sleeves 3 / 4 in | back 10 in, sleeves 4 in |
| Lacrosse | 2 / 2.5 in | 6 / 8 in | 8 / 10 in | shorts 3 / 4 in | not checked |

NFHS uniform rules: volleyball (rule 4-2-4, 2026-27), baseball (rule 1-4-3), basketball, soccer, ice hockey (rule 2-1-2) and football (rule 1-5-1c). No NFHS rule was checked for softball or lacrosse. Printers' own size guides give similar ranges, and say to check your league's rulebook.
How to use it
- Paste the roster, or try the sample, and pick the sport.
- Choose a font and the letter colour. Read the Result: it lists names that were narrowed or made smaller, repeated numbers and anything below the NFHS minimum.
- Pick DTF or vinyl, set the roll or vinyl width, and download each sheet, or one player's files for a single shirt.
What it does not do
- Names and numbers in straight lines only: no arched names, no outlined or layered two-colour numbers.
- A character the chosen font has no letter for is left out, and the page tells you which.
- It does not print or sell transfers: the files are yours to print or cut where you like.
Fonts and licences
This page offers 9 fonts. Each one is used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, unchanged: the font file on this site is the file from the Google Fonts repository (commit 47d54ca1), with the licence text that goes with it next to it. A font is downloaded only when you choose it, and your browser keeps it.

Questions
How do I paste the roster?
One player to a line: a name, a number and a shirt size. The page reads spreadsheet cells (copy the rows and paste), commas or semicolons, or plain words such as "Alvarez 7 YL" or "#7 Alvarez". A first line of column names (Name, Number, Size) is read as a header; with one, a Last name column is the name on the back and any other column, such as a position or an email, is left out. YS, YM, YL and YXL (or "Youth Medium") are youth shirts; every other size is an adult shirt. Up to 100 players; the page says when it left lines out, and when a number is on more than one line.
Which sizes does it use?
To start, STAHLS' published table of common jersey letter and number sizes, youth or adult by each player's shirt size (the table is under the tool, with its sources). The US high-school (NFHS) minimums are a check, not a size: a part set below one gets a note, never a silent change, because youth leagues and clubs set their own rules. Every height can be changed under "Sizes and name widths", and every shirt can be set to youth or adult at once.
How are long names fitted?
A name's size is the height of its capital letters, so an accent or an apostrophe never makes one name smaller than the rest. A name may be at most 12 in wide on an adult shirt (the top of the 8 to 12 in that a placement guide gives) and 9.5 in on a youth shirt (the same scaled to youth letters, our own figure). A longer name is first made up to 20% narrower, then smaller. The Result lists every name that was narrowed or made smaller, and all three numbers can be changed.
Is the vinyl cut file mirrored?
Yes, unless you switch it off. Iron-on (heat transfer) vinyl is cut from the back, so the cut file reads backwards on the cutting mat and right way round on the shirt. Leave mirroring off for adhesive vinyl. The DTF sheet is never mirrored: a DTF transfer is printed the right way round.
What are the weeding boxes?
An optional rectangle cut 0.125 in round every piece. When you weed, the waste vinyl lifts in small pieces and each player's name and numbers come away on their own. The pieces are spaced so that two boxes never touch.
Will the files open in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio?
The SVG states its real size in inches and its letters are plain filled paths, which is what cutting software reads; every piece is its own group, so it can be ungrouped and moved. The DXF has the same pieces in inches, for software that takes DXF (the basic edition of Silhouette Studio opens DXF, not SVG). The letters in the cut files are black whatever the letter colour, so the file never looks empty; colour them in your software. Check the size when you import, and cut a small test first: the page cannot tell how your machine and your vinyl behave.
What is on the DTF gang sheet?
A transparent PNG at 300 dpi with the size written into the file, in the letter colour you pick, packed the way the gang sheet builder packs designs: tallest first, turned sideways when that saves film. The roll is 22 in wide unless you pick another width, and a sheet is at most 60 in long unless you pick another length; a longer roster makes more sheets. Check your printer's own file rules before you order.
What do the NFHS notes mean?
The NFHS writes the uniform rules for US high-school sports. Where a size you set is below its minimum (some youth sizes are, such as 3 in front numbers in basketball), the page says so and keeps your size. NFHS rules are for high-school games; youth leagues, clubs and colleges set their own, so check the rules of the league you play in. For ice hockey the rule asks for plain block (Gothic) numbers.
Is the roster uploaded?
No. The font is downloaded to your browser, and the roster is read, set and saved on your own device. The site counts that the page was used and that a file was saved (as a file type), never a name or a number, and it has no way to read the roster.
Are the fonts free to use on shirts I sell?
Yes. All the fonts here are under the SIL Open Font License, which allows using them in your own work, including things you sell, and does not allow selling the font files by themselves. The licence text for each font is linked at the bottom of the page. This is the licence as written, not legal advice.
Can I get every sheet, or a file for every player, at once?
One file at a time is free: each sheet, the whole roster as one vinyl cut file, and any one player's files, with every font and option. With Pro you get every sheet in one ZIP, and a file for every player in one ZIP (a PNG each for DTF, or an SVG and a DXF each for vinyl) with a short report, roster-report.txt, that lists every player, the sizes used and anything the page noted.
What does it not do?
It sets names and numbers in straight lines: no arched or curved names, no outlined or two-colour layered numbers, and one font and one colour for the whole roster. It does not use a font you upload. It does not know your league's rules beyond the NFHS check. It makes the files; it does not print, cut or sell transfers, so there is nothing to order here.
Can I sell what I make with it?
Yes. Everything Makerfern makes is yours to use and sell, free or Pro, as long as you have the right to use what you start from: your own photos and drawings, or pictures whose license allows it; somebody else's art or characters only with their permission. Makerfern adds no watermark and takes no rights in your file. One Pro covers every tool: there is no per-tool plan.
