Why a tapered tumbler needs a curved template
Measure round the top of a tapered tumbler and round the bottom and the numbers differ. Unrolled, that shape is a slice of a ring: the top edge a long arc, the bottom a shorter one. A rectangle printed and wrapped round it climbs on one side, and the two ends meet at an angle with a wedge of bare cup between them. The fix is to print the design on the curve, and that is what this tool draws, with the arc worked out from your three measurements.

Questions
Do I need to warp my design for a tapered tumbler?
Yes. A tapered cup is a cone with its tip cut off, and a cone unrolls to part of a ring, not a rectangle. A rectangular design wrapped round it tilts, and the ends meet in a V-shaped gap. Warping the design to the curve puts the top edge of the artwork on the top edge of the cup all the way round. Drop your design on the tool and it does the warp for you.
How do I measure my tumbler?
Wrap a strip of paper round the cup where the top of the design will sit, mark where it overlaps, and measure the strip: that is the top circumference. Do the same where the design ends. For the height, measure along the side of the cup between those two lines, or straight up with a ruler and choose that option. Measure the actual cup: sizes differ between brands even when the ounces match.
Should I mirror the design for sublimation?
It depends on your printer's software, not on the cup. Many sublimation setups mirror automatically, and mirroring twice prints the design backwards. Check what your printer does with one small test before a whole run; the mirror switch here is off unless you turn it on.
What is the bleed for?
Extra design past the edges, so a tiny misalignment in wrapping or pressing does not leave a bare line where the ends meet or at the rim. The bleed repeats the edge of your artwork outwards.
Does it make mug templates too?
Yes. A mug is usually a straight cylinder, so set the top and bottom to the same measurement and it becomes a plain rectangle. Set the coverage below 100% to leave room for the handle.
