Print Then Cut stuck connecting to a printer? Check the 10.7 beta note

Cricut lists a printer connection loop fix in the 7 October Design Space 10.7 desktop beta. Check your version and separate the loop from printer and sensor errors.

Published 8 October 2026

If a Design Space desktop Print Then Cut project repeatedly connects to the printer without reaching a print job, note your app version before changing the artwork. Cricut's 7 October 2026 10.7 beta release notes list a fix for a “continuous printer connection loop.” The note is for desktop beta, not a statement that the fix has reached the current production release or that every printer connection issue shares this cause.

Keep your project saved, check whether another application can print to the same printer, then retry one simple Print Then Cut job through Design Space. Those checks separate the new software symptom from a printer that is offline, an empty printer list, or a later cutting-stage problem. Do not spend sticker paper or change cut pressure until you know which stage failed.

What the 10.7 beta note does and does not say

Cricut dates the Design Space for Desktop beta 10.7 to 7 October 2026 and explicitly says its section will be updated when the release goes to production. Its fixed-field list includes a Print Then Cut project causing a continuous printer connection loop. The same page still labels desktop 10.6, dated 5 October, as a production release. A beta fix is useful evidence for a matching symptom; it is not proof that an installed production copy has the fix or that the problem was reproduced on your printer model.

Record the exact version and whether it says Beta. If Cricut offers a newer production update later, use the version and release notes actually offered in the app. Do not infer a universal printer-driver repair from this single release-note line. Cricut lists a separate 10.7 beta fix for the system print dialog timing out and freezing Design Space; a frozen dialog is worth recording separately from a repeated connection cycle.

Find the point where Print Then Cut stops

  1. Save the design and note the version. Keep the project, operating system, printer model, Design Space version, and the last screen that appears. A short screen recording can distinguish a repeating connection message from a printer queue that simply takes time.
  2. Check the printer outside Design Space. Print an ordinary test page from the operating system. If it fails there too, restore the printer's connection or queue first. A Design Space beta note cannot establish that a disconnected printer is healthy.
  3. Try a minimal project in the same app session. Make a small, single-layer Print Then Cut shape on ordinary printer paper. This keeps a large uploaded image, complex layers, and expensive sticker stock out of the diagnostic. If the small job prints while one saved project loops, keep a copy of that project for Cricut support.
  4. Look at the printer list. If the problem is specifically No printer found on Windows, Cricut's Print Then Cut help has a different troubleshooting path for unfamiliar printer devices. Do not treat that message as the same as an endless connection loop.
  5. Retry the complete print-and-cut flow. Once printing works, print and cut from the same Design Space session and device. Cricut warns that printing a saved PDF outside its flow can make cut sensor marks the wrong size. A workaround that produces a page is not useful if the machine cannot align the later cut.

If the project prints but the cutter cannot read registration marks, the printer connection stage has already succeeded. Follow the sensor-mark diagnosis for that different failure. If it scans but leaves an uneven white border, see the cut alignment and calibration guide. A cut that goes through the backing is a depth or sticker-mode issue.

If only one saved project repeats the connection step

Leave the original saved. Duplicate it and compare a version with only one printable object to the full layout. If the simple project and the reduced copy both print, add the remaining objects back in small groups to find where the failure returns. This is a diagnostic, not evidence that any particular image format causes Cricut's reported loop. Record whether it occurs before or after the system print dialog and whether a job appears in the printer queue. A project that reaches the queue but never prints needs a printer-side check; a project that repeatedly returns to the same Design Space connection screen matches the beta note more closely.

Do not export the artwork to an unrelated print app as a final Print Then Cut workaround. Cricut's same-session guidance matters because Design Space must make the print marks and later cut agree. If you need to preserve a paid or complex design while testing, use ordinary paper and a duplicate rather than changing the only saved version or wasting the final material.

What to send Cricut if the loop persists

Report your version and channel (production or beta), Windows or macOS version, printer make and model, connection type, whether a system test page works, and whether a one-shape Design Space project loops. Include the exact message or screen and the step before it repeats. Say whether the job reaches the operating-system print queue. Those facts are more useful than changing unrelated cut settings or reinstalling without an error record.

Makerfern's browser-local sticker layout tool can prepare printable artwork, and the print-size checker can help inspect source pixels. Neither controls the printer handshake inside Design Space. Our processing explanation and export options describe the file-preparation side; the final Print Then Cut job must still go through Cricut's supported workflow.
